Meet The Founder
Michael Wamithi lives in Nairobi Kenya. In the last 37 years, he has been actively playing a strong role in safeguarding our wildlife and the natural environment. He is a passionate conservationist at heart and a prolific wildlife advocate at large.
Over the years, he has built and solidified extensive skills in developing and managing donor relations, managing teams and institutions along with superior project management and administration know-how.
To date, he remains deeply involved as an independent consultant and serves on the Board of, the East Africa Wildlife Society (EAWLS) and is a Founder member of Wildlife Conservation Management Professionals Society of Kenya on whose board he has served as chairman for over three years. He has previously worked at the International Fund for Animal Welfare, USA, the Kenya Wildlife Service and served as advisory board member of Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) Kenya chapter and the Wildlife Justice Commission, NL. He is also the co-founder and CEO of The Africa Conservancy Foundation (ACF).
In these roles he has managed some of Kenya’s most important National Parks, led Kenya’s Wildlife management agency (KWS), trained wildlife law enforcement in many countries in Africa, over sighted design and implementation of restoration and conservation projects across Africa and contributed to leadership and governance in organizations on whose boards he has served.
His present goal is to secure threatened wildlife habitats and provide leadership to focus the efforts of partners and organizations in Africa’s conservation sector in single-minded endeavor to address the effects of climate change and prevent loss of critical habitats and species therein.
