Michael Wamithi
Michael is a Co-Founder, Executive Chairman of the Board and Managing Director of The Africa Conservancy Foundation.
He is a conservationist with over 30 year successful career in Nature conservation to which he remains actively involved as an independent consultant and serves on the Boards of The Hague based Wildlife Justice commission (WJC), US Based International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and Jane Goodall Institute (JGI),Kenya chapter. He is also a member of the East Africa Wildlife Society.
He has previously served as CEO of Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS),the CEO Kenya Wildlife Trust (KWT), Kenya Country Director, Global Program Director and International Advisor for Africa of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW).In these roles Michael has initiated many conservation projects in Africa, guided training for law enforcement staff, campaigned against destruction of forests, poaching and illegal trade in wildlife species, participated in review of the wildlife act and policy in Kenya and efforts to enhance growth of conservancies movement in Kenya.
